The Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme is a multi-year programme that promotes teaching in public schools. The bursaries are provided so that eligible students may complete a teaching qualification in an area recognised as priority.

University can cost a lot of money, taking into consideration learning material, transport costs, accommodation and living expenses. The Funza Lushaka Bursary can take care of those for you.

They cover the following:

  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation including meals
  • Books and learning materials
  • A possible small allowance for monthly living expenses

The allocation of funds to any individual student is capped at a specific value. Where the Higher Education Institution charges more than the capped value the bursars will have to top up from their own funds. The cost structures at universities are different so the total value of the bursary will differ from institution to institution.

They fund the following programmes:

  • Bachelor of Education (BEd)
  • Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE)

Applications for this bursary are open, so apply now!

All first time applicants must be 30 years or younger to apply for the Funza Lushaka Bursary.

Applicants for this bursary must have been accepted into a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) qualification at an accredited public university, to qualify for funding.
