There is more than one way to apply for the Sassa R350 Social Relief Of Distress (SRD) Grant. Sassa has an online application process that can be done on the internet.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has made it easier for those eligible for grant payouts to a apply for them in various ways. In addition to being able to apply in-person at a Sassa office near you, via WhatsApp, and via the chatbox, people can also apply online on the website.

Step 1:

Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/auth

Step 2:

Type your 10 digit cellphone number.

Step 3:

You will then get an SMS with a six-digit One Time Pin.

Step 4:

Once you have typed in your One Time Pin, you can then provide your details (ID number, name & surname, citizenship, address, district and province)

Step 5:

Submit your application form.

Once you have done this you will get a reference number that you can use to follow up on your application.

Since this application is made online, the submission of accompanying documents will work differently, with Sassa stating on their Twitter:

"Please don't send documents when applying for the COVID-19 SRD grant. This clogs our system and prevents other people from applying. Use only one channel to apply we will respond as soon as your application has been processed."
