The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) provides bursaries which are highly sought-after. If you've submitted your NSFAS application and you're wondering what your NSFAS application status is, we can help.

If you are among those that have submitted their applications and find that whenever you track your application it says ‘Validation’ it means that NSFAS is conducting third party checks with SASSA and the Department of Home Affairs.

This is to ensure that you meet their eligibility criteria based on the information you have provided to them.

Additionally, there is no specific timeframe to determine when your NSFAS application will be processed, so it is advisable that you check your application status regularly. You can do that by following the steps listed below.

How to track your myNSFAS application status:

  • Log in to the NSFAS account on the myNSFAS student portal here
  • Enter your username and password and sign in
  • Click on Track Funding Progress

NSFAS provides bursaries to individuals who plan on studying or are applying to study at one of South Africa's 26 Public Universities or 50 TVET Colleges.

NSFAS bursaries cover more than just your tuition fees. NSFAS will also cover your registration, accommodation, transport, books and other student needs.
