Receiving a message from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) confirming your NSFAS funding status can be a huge relief, but seeing the phrase "Funded Subject to Registration and Availability of Funds" might leave you with questions. Understanding what this status entails and knowing what actions to take can make the process smoother and ensure you don’t miss out on the financial support you need to pursue your studies.

Here’s a breakdown of what this status means and how to proceed.

'Funded Subject To Registration And Availability Of Funds' NSFAS Status Meaning

When you receive a 'Funded Subject To Registration And Availability Of Funds' NSFAS status, it means that you have been approved for NSFAS funding.

NSFAS is still awaiting registration data from the student’s institution after a student has registered for that academic year. This means that students with this application status can relax knowing that as soon as they register, their funding will be confirmed for NSFAS.

NSFAS will only release funds to students who are enrolled and registered in their respective courses. Make sure you register at your institution as soon as possible, following all necessary procedures because any delays in registration could affect when NSFAS can release your funds.

Availability funds refer to NSFAS’ budget. Should NSFAS have the necessary funding, the student will receive comprehensive funding from NSFAS.

What Should I Do?

Since this NSFAS status means you are approved for funding, all you need to do is register as soon as your university or TVET College opens its registration period. After that, NSFAS will await your institution's submission of your registration details to confirm your funding.

After your registration is confirmed at NSFAS, NSFAS will begin disbursing funds according to their NSFAS allowance payment schedule.

Applicants are urged to continuously check their NSFAS status to keep up-to-date with the progress of their NSFAS application.
