If you failed some of your final matric examinations, or are just wanting to improve your marks, you have the opportunity to rewrite. Today is the last day to register for the Second Chance Programme, so make sure you don't miss the deadline!

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) created the Second Chance Matric Programme to provide support to learners who wish to improve their marks in some of their subjects. This programme gives learners the opportunity to meet the requirements for a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or a Senior Certificate (SC) and obtain a matric certificate.

However, only NSC candidates will qualify for the October/November examinations and SC candidates will need to wait for registration to open for the May/June exams.

Without a matric certificate, it can be challenging to find a job or get into a higher education institution. This programme gives learners a chance to achieve that matric certificate and pursue their dream career.

Learners are supported through after-hours face-to-face lessons and have access to online learning materials and hard-copy learning materials.

You can register for the October/November rewrites on the Government's e-services portal or at your local District Office.

When registering at the District Office, make sure that you have the following documents on hand:

  • Your Identity Document
  • Statement of results or matric certificate
  • Your most recent school report is required for those who left school before matric

Register before the end of today (15 March 2023) so that you don't miss your chance!
