The Department of Basic Education (DBE) confirmed the 2024 October/November final matric exam timetable. This martric timetable outlines the dates and times when learners will sit for their National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Senior Certificate (SC) exams.

With just over fifty days remaining before the final matric exams, learners have begun their preparations. This induces learners who will be rewriting their matric exams.

Learners unsatisfied with their May/June results were allowed to register for the October/November 2024 NSC exams.

Only candidates who participated in NSC exams can participate in the 2024 November matric exams. Registration for participation in the end-of-year matric exams closed on 21 August 2024.

Only NSC candidates who wrote the 2024 May/June examination are eligible. Registration will close on 21 August 2024.

Learners who wrote the May/June 2024 matric exams can rewrite specific subjects in the end-of-year exams to improve their results.

Candidates can ONLY register to improve on the subjects that they wrote during the 2024 May/June NSC examination.

When October/November 2024 Matric Rewrites Will Commence

The commencement of the October/November exams is dependent on which subject the candidate has registered for. This as some students who registered for the October/November 2024 exams are not registered for all subjects that will be written.

The final matric examination period is set to commence on Monday, 21 October 2024 and will conclude during the final week of November 2024.

Key Changes in the 2024 Timetable

The 2024 matric timetable differs from previous years in several respects. Notably, Computer Applications Technology (CAT) and Information Technology (IT) practicals will be conducted during the first week of the examinations. Previously these exams would be written during the final week of examinations. Additionally, all official languages will commence with Paper 3.
