The University of South Africa (Unisa) has begun releasing examination results to its students. The institution described the 2023 academic as a success after more than 8.3 million submissions of assignments and examinations were received from students.
In October/November 2023, Unisa held exams for the second-semester and year modules. If students failed their second opportunity, re-registering for the module is advised, as Unisa doesn't offer a third exam chance
This trend also points to growing digital maturity among our students, as they become more adept and comfortable in an online learning environment.
Unisa uses an Open Distance e-Learning (ODeL) education model which sees students learn and participate in examinations online. The university said that its 8.3 million submissions indicate a heightened commitment to learning and active involvement from its student body.
When students receive their Unisa results they will receive codes. These codes will indicate the marks they achieved on what they may need to do to continue their academic journey.
Here’s What Unisa's Exam Codes Mean
- 1 - Pass: Achieved with a final mark of 50% and above.
- 2 - Pass with Distinction: Obtained with a final mark of 75% and above.
- 3 - Failed: Received a final mark below 50%, requiring re-registration for the module.
- 5 - Absent from Examination: Issued when submissions are not received within the allowed period, requiring re-registration for the module.
- 6 - Supplementary Examination: Granted for certain circumstances, allowing students a second examination opportunity without the need for re-registration.
- 7/99 - Results Outstanding: Marks are pending, and students can follow up from December 14, 2023.
- 8 - Not Admitted to an Examination: Issued if examination admission criteria are not met, necessitating re-registration.
