Sassa Payment Dates For 2024

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) pays millions of grants to vulnerable South Africans every month. In the expanded Budget 2024 review, the National Treasury explained that social grant expenditure, excluding the SRD grant, will rise from R217.1 billion in 2023/24 to R259.3 billion in 2026/27.

Sassa Payment Dates For March 2024

Sassa is responsible for the Sassa payout of several different permanent grants aimed at assisting financially vulnerable people living in South Africa. Social grants distributed by Sassa include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grantWar Veterans grantCare Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid.

It's important for Sassa grant beneficiaries to be informed of the upcoming Sassa grant payment dates to know when they'll be receiving their Sassa money.

Sassa Grant Payment Dates For March 2024

Sassa usually pays permanent social grants in the first week of the month, starting on the second working day of the month. However, Sassa grant payments don't take place on weekends and public holidays.

With this in mind, here are the Sassa grant payment dates for March, according to the agency:

  • Older Persons Grant - 5 March 2024 
  • Disability Grants - 6 March 2024
  • Children's Grants -  7 March 2024

Sassa Pay Dates For March 2024

For March, the SRD grant payment period will be from 25 March 2024 to 29 March 2024. The agency also reminds grant recipients that it typically takes approximately 2-3 working days for the funds to appear in their bank accounts after the payment has been processed.

SRD grant payments are made during the final week of the month after Sassa completed various verification checks. These verification checks seek to ensure only deserving individuals receive SRD grant payments. 

Grant Dates For March 2024 - And Beyond

Sassa grants are expected to increase on 1 April 2024 and again on 1 October 2024. Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana, announced the following Sassa grant increases.

Old Age Grant March 2024 - Pension Dates For March 2024

  • The old age grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant and the Care Dependency grant will have an increase of R90 in April and then R10 in October.
  • The child support grant will only have one increase of R20 in April.
  • The Foster Care grant will only have one increase of R50 in April.

Sassa Grant Increases - Sassa Grant Payment Dates

Godongwana unfortunately did not announce any increase for the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. The SRD grant payment currently stands at the value of R350 per month.

Grant beneficiaries who require financial assistance can collect their Sassa grants at several different payment points. These payment points include ATMs and retail stores such as Pick n Pay, Checkers, Shoprite and Boxer.
