The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) received more than two million funding applications for the 2024 academic year. Many of the individuals who applied for funding are still waiting to find out whether they will be approved for NSFAS funding.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to eligible applicants enrolled in approved courses at Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Colleges and public universities in South Africa.

The funding provided by NSFAS includes money for tuition fees, registration fees and several allowances. Allowances are provided for meal costs, stationery costs, accommodation costs and travel expenses.

Some Students Aren't Appearing On The NSFAS Funded List

NSFAS has confirmed that the 2024 funding list is available. The list contains the information of all students who have been approved for NSFAS funding for the current academic year.

The list contains names of students who qualify for the NSFAS funding, according to the NSFAS funding criteria

Institutions of higher learning can now access the funding list and allow registration of students who appear on the funding list. However, not all of the students who will eventually benefit from NSFAS in 2024 will appear on the funding list.

Some students with an 'Approved' NSFAS status might not see their name on the funded list. This is because NSFAS updates the funding list regularly as they receive information confirming students' eligibility.

Please note the funded list is to be updated regularly. Please note funding is currently being finalised.

Institutions are encouraged to continue monitoring the funding list as it can be updated at any time.

Please note funding is currently being finalised. Continue to monitor the portal for updates.

How To Check Your NSFAS Status

If you have submitted your funding application, you may be wondering what the outcome is. Fortunately, once you apply for NSFAS you can track the status of your NSFAS online application form on the NSFAS website in a few simple steps.

Here is how to do a NSFAS status check for your application status.

  1. Log in to your NSFAS account on the myNSFAS student portal here

  2. Enter your username and password and sign in

  3. Click on Track Funding Progress

  4. You will then be able to track funding progress and check your NSFAS status

You should be regularly checking your NSFAS status using your NSFAS ID number to confirm your tuition has been paid and also to confirm your allowances.

The NSFAS allowances you receive will differ depending on whether you are studying at a university or TVET college.
