UPDATE: CACH Is Now Open For Late Applications In New Version As CAS

The Central Application Clearing House (CACH) is opening this week for 2026 University and College placements. Individuals who want to study in 2026 are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible. Anyone who completed Matric since 2000 can use the service, free of charge.

CACH applications are open from Monday 19th January to 31 March 2026. This gives students 70 days to apply. However, it's important to sign up as soon as possible to ensure maximum chances of placement.

The Department of Higher Education and Training has also promised that this year will see an evolved and improved CACH. The new version for the 2026 academic year will be called Central Application Service (CAS) and will make applying for the positions available much easier for young people.

The service for 2025 will be open from 8 am on 19th January 2026 until 31st March 2026.

CACH functions as a bridge between students and educational institutions, facilitating the application process and providing access to various opportunities.

Institutions and the sector education and training authorities (SETAs) use the CACH database for placement. Where places exist and prospective students meet the requirements, institutions will contact them directly once they have accepted the offer on the CACH system.

This visibility enhances students' chances of being considered for placement at the institutions, even if they missed initial application deadlines or are seeking alternative options.

How To Sign Up For CACH

  • Step 1: Visit the CACH Website: Go to the official CACH website
  • Step 2: Navigate to the Sign-Up Section: Locate the sign-up section on the website's homepage.
  • Step 3: Complete the Registration Form: Fill out the registration form with accurate personal and academic information. Ensure all details are entered correctly to avoid any issues during the application process.

No documents are required as CACH receives matric results from the Department of Basic Education.

Once students sign up on the CACH system, no further application is needed and institutions will contact students directly.
