Thousands of matriculants in South Africa recently obtained their National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualification. Many of these individuals are now eligible to attend a university or college to further their education.
While many of these individuals have secured placement for the 2023 academic year at university, some may not have been accepted to study in 2023 but still have the desire to study.
The Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) has advised individuals who want to study at a university in 2023 to sign up on the Central Applications Clearing House (CACH) system.
The CACH system provides information to users about which institutions are offering programmes that match their study preferences. The system opened on 27 January 2023 and will close on 31 March 2023
Individuals can sign up for CACH if they applied for admission to higher education institutions but were rejected at the time of the application.
The system is not only available to individuals who recently passed Grade 12. Learners who completed Grade 12 from the year 2000 are eligible to use the CACH system.
It's important to note that the CACH system is free to use. Individuals can sign up by registering and capturing their details, including the field of study and programme of choice via the CACH system.
Individuals who are unsure about what career path to follow are encouraged to access careers advice and information through the DHET’s Khetha Career Development Service.
