The matric rewrite registration has been extended further to 21 February 2022 by the Department of Basic Education (DBE).
This means egistrations are open for both National Senior Certificate and Senior Certificate individuals.
This is for individuals who will be registering to write for the May/June 2022 examination period. There are separate criteria for both candidates.
National Senior Certificate Registration Criteria:
- All candidates that registered for the October/November examination, as from 2008.
- Candidates are allowed to register from subjects that they were previously registered for in their previous October/November examinations.
- Candidates must have completed their SBA tasks, Practical Assessment Tasks, and the Language Oral Tasks in a previous October/November examination.
- Candidates who had missed one or more question papers due to unforeseen circumstances such as ill-health, death in the family, or any other special reasons. The candidate will need to provide documented proof, substantiating the reason for absenteeism.
- Candidates who want to improve their overall achievement or that of a specific subject.
- In a case where an irregularity is being investigated, provisional enrolment for the 2022 May/June 2022may is granted to the candidate, pending the outcome of the investigation.
- NSC candidates may only register manually at a district office or at the school where they previously wrote the examination.
Senior Certificate Registration Criteria:
- Adult learners who are 21 years and older who have, a General Education and Training Certificate, Grade 9 report (or the old standard 7), a recognised equivalent qualification obtained at level 1, which requires two official languages.
- Adult learners who are 21 years and older with an incomplete Senior Certificate qualification.
- Adult candidates who are 21 years and older with an incomplete NSC may choose to complete NSC, or convert to the Senior Certificate, they may not revert to the NSC and attempt to complete the NSC qualification.
- Out-of-school youth, aged 18-21 years old who could not complete their school education due to circumstances beyond their control as verified by the Head of Department.
- Adult candidates who have already obtained a Senior Certificate qualification but wish to improve their results/status.
- Additionally, the above group of candidates that may register to write the May/June 2022 examination, candidates that have written the October/November 2021 examination either with the IEB or SACAI, may also write the May/June 2022 examination administered by the DBE. Further directions will be provided in relation to the results of these candidates.
