The University of the Western Cape (UWC) has announced that application outcomes for 2025 matriculants will be released from 13:00 on Thursday, 15 January 2026.

UWC has confirmed that offers of admission will be made in phases. This process allows faculties to review available spaces as applicants accept or decline offers, ensuring that as many qualifying students as possible are accommodated.

What It Means If Your Application Is Still Pending

If you do not receive an offer on 15 January 2026 and your application status reflects as "Pending or Awaiting Decision", this does not mean that your application has been rejected. It simply indicates that a final decision has not yet been made.

Applicants are advised to remain patient, as the selection process will continue over the next two to three weeks while faculties finalise placements.

How To Check Your UWC Application Status

Applicants can view their application outcomes online by visiting http://student.uwc.ac.za/ and selecting "Application Status".

Application statuses are updated in real time as decisions are made, and applicants are strongly encouraged to monitor the portal regularly.

If you do not receive any correspondence by 02 February 2026, you should consider your application unsuccessful.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum admission requirements for their chosen programmes will be notified of an unsuccessful outcome via the same portal.

Important Information For Successful Applicants

Applicants who receive an offer of admission must take note of the following important steps:

  • You must accept your offer within three (3) days of receiving it, or within the timeframe stated in your offer letter
  • All offers must be accepted online via http://student.uwc.ac.za/
  • Failure to accept your offer within the required period will result in the offer being revoked
  • Once you have accepted your offer, you must complete your registration by the date indicated in your Confirmation of Acceptance letter
  • Failure to register within the specified timeframe, or as directed by your faculty, may also lead to your offer being withdrawn

Prospective students are encouraged to check their application status regularly and respond promptly to any offers to secure their place at the University of the Western Cape.
