The University of Johannesburg offers nursing programmes at basic, post-basic and postgraduate level. If you’re interested in studying nursing in 2024, you can still apply at the University of Johannesburg.

The Department of Nursing at the University of Johannesburg (UJ) offers comprehensive nursing courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level. Their applications are officially open for the 2024 intake.

UJ has a wide variety of nursing programmes available, however, teaching and learning are the two main focus points of excellent achievements for the diverse student population attracted to be the new generation of professional nurses in the country.

Undergraduate

  • Bachelor of Nursing

Postgraduate 

  • Master of Nursing Science in Community Health Nursing Science
  • Master of Nursing Science in Community Health Nursing Science: Occupational Health Nursing Science
  • Master of Nursing Science in Community Health Nursing Science: Primary Health Care
  • Master of Nursing Science in Medical and Surgical Nursing: Critical Care (General)
  • Master of Nursing Science in Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science
  • Master of Nursing Science in Professional Nursing Science: Ethos and Professional Practice 
  • Master of Nursing Science in Professional Nursing Science: Nursing Education
  • Master of Nursing Science in Professional Nursing Science: Nursing Management
  • Master of Nursing Science in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
  • Doctor of Nursing Science

Postgraduate Diplomas

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Midwifery
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Critical Care Nursing
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Education 
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Health Services Management
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Primary Care Nursing

You can apply for one of the above nursing programmes on the University of Johannesburg’s website.

Admission requirements will vary depending on the course you are applying for. You can view the entry requirements on UJ’s website. Ensure that you meet the admission requirements before submitting your application otherwise you will be rejected. 

Make sure that you have the necessary certified supporting documents on hand when completing your application.

Nursing applications opened on 1 April 2023 and will close on 30 September 2023. Apply now before it’s too late!
