The Mthashana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college has made it its mission to advance knowledge and transform the lives of young people in the northern region of KwaZulu-Natal. 

The existence of a college in this region serves as a glimmer of hope for many young people in the area by providing an important gateway to skills and employment.

Mthashana TVET College does this by providing industry-aligned vocational education in areas of business studies, engineering studies and artisanal training. 

Prospective students interested in studying at the Mthashana TVET College can choose from several modes of learning. This includes the National Certificate (Vocational) qualification, NATED programmes, Distance NATED programmes, Skills Courses and Pre Vocational Learning Programmes. 

How To Apply To Study At Mthashana TVET College 

Step 1: Visit the Mthashana TVET College website

Step 2: Complete the compulsory placement test 

  • Answer all the questions
  • Complete the ‘Pre-Entry’ folder

Step 3: Visit the Mthashana TVET college online application page and log in or register an account. 

Step 4: Fill out the application 

Step 5: Complete the online application

  • Select ‘Available Courses’
  • Select the year of study
  • Select the campus you want to study at 
  • Indicate if you would like to study full-time or part-time
  • Choose your preferred study direction 
  • Select available course 

Step 6: Click ‘apply for this course’

It's important to note that submitting a Mthashana TVET college application does not imply that you are automatically registered for the selected course. This application will speed up the registration process at the TVET college.

Applicants must ensure they have a valid email address, valid cell phone number, a valid Identity document and a copy of their next of kin’s identification document. 

The Mthashana TVET college has eight campuses serving students around the province of KwaZulu-Natal. This includes the Vryheid Engineering Campus, Kwa-Gqikazi Campus, Babanango Skills Centre, Emandleni Campus, Nongoma Campus, Nquthu Campus, Vryheid Business Campus and Maputa Campus. 

Should applicants encounter any difficulties with their Mthashana TVET college application, they are advised to visit their nearest campus for assistance with the application. Alternatively, they can contact the college’s admission Office on 034 980 1010.

There are 50 TVET colleges with more than 300 campuses in South Africa. They offer practical vocational training programs and technical skills development courses to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to work in a range of vocational fields or start their own businesses.
