Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges play a critical role in delivering skills development and vocational training to meet South Africa’s workforce needs.
There are 50 TVET colleges located around the country that provide vocational and occupational education and training in a variety of fields, including engineering, business studies, hospitality, agriculture, art and design, information technology, and more.
Umgungundlovu TVET (UTVET) College in Pietermaritzburg offers business studies, hospitality, garment making, carpentry, welding, farming management, financial management and engineering programmes to students eager to gain critical skills needed by the South African economy.
These courses are offered on a full-time or part-time basis meaning that students can study at a pace that suits their schedules.
UTVET has eleven campuses around the city of Pietermaritzburg. The offerings at these campuses differ as they deliver National Certificate (Vocational) NC(V) courses and NATED programmes.
Applying to UTVET
Step 1: Gather all the required documents and save them in a PDF format
Step 2: Click on Apply on the Application Portal on UTVET’s website
Step 3: Register an Account by creating a username and password (your username will be your ID number)
Step 4: Fill in the required information based on the course you are applying for
Step 5: Complete all the screens on the application portal
Step 6: Upload all the required documents
Step 7: If all your information has been correctly entered, you will be able to click on the submit button to submit your application.
Students who require funding must apply to National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) prior to applying to the college.

This includes the Msunduzi Campus, Central Office, Edendale Campus, Midlands Campus (Central), Msunduzi Campus, Northdale Campus, Plessieslaer Campus, Msinga Campus, Richmond Campus, Muden Campus, Hlanganani Campus, Ntabamhlophe Campus and the Greytown Campus.
