Sassa Grant Payments For August 2025 Commence

There are millions of social grant beneficiaries living in South Africa. SASSA have called in their management to help with grant distribution to try to avoid long queues as they start August 2025 payments.

The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has commenced with August 2025 social grant payments. Millions of people living in the country will receive grant payments during the second month of the year.

Sassa distributes over 18 million permanent grant payments, including the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid. This is in addition to the approximately 8 million individuals who receive the temporary Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant. 

Consistent with Sassa’s grant payment policy, older persons' grant beneficiaries will be paid first. 

Grants payments for disability grant beneficiaries and children's grant beneficiaries will be paid over the next couple of days.

Sassa Grant Payment Dates August 2025

  • Older Persons Grant: 5th August 2025
  • Disability Grants: 6th August 2025
  • Children’s Grants: 7th August 2025

If your grant is under review you should collect it on Friday 8th August. 

Sassa Grant Payment Amounts for 2025

As confirmed by Sassa, the current grant amounts are as follows:

  • Older Persons Grant: R2,315 (R2,330 for recipients aged 75 and older)
  • Disability Grant: R2,315
  • War Veterans Grant: R2,335
  • Care Dependency Grant: R2,315
  • Foster Care Grant: R1,250
  • Child Support Grant: R560
  • Child Support Grant (Top-Up): R530 + R260

SRD Grant Payment Dates for August

Payments for the SRD Grant will be paid in the last week of the month.
