Online learning has slowly been implemented for a while now, and is by no means simply just a result of Covid-19. However, the pandemic did move the process of online learning forward at a much quicker pace and on a large-scale level.

Despite traditional schooling having a lot of value, along with people’s initial skepticism towards online learning, there have proven to be many benefits to online learning such as the following:

  • Online schooling offers a more flexible learning experience, allowing for students to complete their studies from anywhere, at anytime
  • Online schooling offers personalized learning programmes that cater to the individual students enrolled in a way that adheres to their personal learning abilities
  • With online learning, students can control their learning environment with the freedom of choice to be able to pursue their studies from anywhere
  • Online schooling offers the student a sense of responsibility as it allows for the student to control their discipline and motivation for performing school-related tasks
  • Online schooling influences greater parental involvement, as instead of educators as supervisors, if a learner is working from home, their parents can be as much involved in their studies as both the student and parent would like
  • Online schooling tends to be more cost-efficient, saving costs for commutes to schools, and often offering virtual coursework instead of requiring that the student buy hard-copy textbooks
  • For students who have trouble with social interaction, learning online creates a more comfortable environment for those who would prefer not socialize during the completion of their studies
