Munei Tshiovhe, the Corporate Partnerships Manager at UCT Online High School, recently sat down with Careers Portal to give insight into a scholarship opportunity that the institution is offering. We also got a look into what a day in the life of a UCT Online High School student looks like.

Tshiovhe explains that UCT Online High School Learners benefit from the institution's flexible and self-paced learning model. The learning model allows learners to have the freedom to commence their studies at any time that suits them, making it convenient for a wide range of schedules.

Whether it's an early start at 4 a.m. or a later beginning at 10 a.m., students can tailor their learning experience to their preferences.

Tshiovhe explains that the UCT online high school curriculum is structured and students go through subjects and activities to ensure comprehensive learning. They add that Interaction and support are key components of their approach to education.

When learners at regular schools learn in a classroom with a teacher, UCT online high learners are guided by learning facilitators. The school also offers "Ask Me Anything" sessions, where learners can engage in virtual classrooms with their peers and teachers to collaborate, seek clarification, and address any challenges they encounter.

UCT Online High School also seeks to encourage and motivate learners through a rewards programme. Learners are offered a chance to earn a laptop based on their performance and participation in various activities on the online campus.

Needs Of A UCT Online High School

One notable aspect of the school is its accessibility requirement. To be a part of UCT Online High School, learners must have a stable internet connection and access to a digital device, such as a laptop, to utilise the online campus and its resources.

The school does not provide learners with a digital device or internet and the responsibility to provide this falls on the parent or guardian.

Learning Liberated Scholarship

The UCT Online High School is now offering the opportunity for more learners to join their online campus and work toward a National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualification through the Learning Liberated Scholarship programme.

UCT Online High School says the partial scholarship intends to make education more accessible to a diverse range of learners who may not afford the full tuition. More information about the Learning Liberated Scholarship is available here.
