So, you've completed your application to have your higher education studies funded by NSFAS. Now, you're waiting to hear whether it has been successful or not. Here's what will happen and what you can do if your application was unsuccessful.

NSFAS has said that application results will be communicated to all applicants once NSFAS received confirmation from the Institution that an academic offer has been made to you. This will be communicated to you before the start of the academic year via SMS, email and through your myNSFAS account.

You can also monitor your application status while you wait and track your application progress. Doing this will help you know on what stage your application is.

To track your application, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the NSFAS website.
  2. Click on MyNSFAS account and login using your ID and the password you created when setting up your profile.

If you do not have a myNSFAS account, visit www.nsfas.org.za for the steps on how to create your myNSFAS account.

If you are not satisfied with the results of your applications you've received, you have the right to appeal this decision by completing the appeal process. You can do this through your myNSFAS account if you're a first time entering student or at the institutions financial aid if you're a continuing students or a senior student.

NSFAS offers funding to University students as well as TVET College students in the form of a bursary. Getting funded by NSFAS does not only cover your tuition fees but will have you receive funding for other needs you have as a student. NSFAS will also provide assistive devices & human support for applicants with disabilities.
