NSFAS bursaries are made available to students who come from poor and working class-backgrounds that are interested in studying at a University or a TVET College. NSFAS provides allowances that cover transport, accommodation, tuition & registration fees, learning materials, food allowances and personal care.

On the 21 January 2022, NSFAS applications closed applications, with some students having unsuccessful applications.

Students are allowed to appeal their unsuccessful applications, with NSFAS granting a period of 30 days to submit an appeal after receiving an unsuccessful application status.

To appeal your unsuccessful application you will need to do the following:

  1. Log into your ‘myNSFAS’ account on www.nsfas.org.za
  2. Click the 'Track Funding Progress' option
  3. Check the application progress tabs
  4. If your application status reflects an unsuccessful message, you may submit an appeal by clicking on the 'Submit Appeal Tab'
  5. Once you are on the 'Application Appeal' page, you can see the reason for your unsuccessful application status
  6. You are then able to choose the appeal reason
  7. Then upload certified supporting documents to support your reason
  8. Then click 'Submit Appeal'
  9. You may now track the progress of the appeal on your myNSFAS account.

If you want to appeal and your myNSFAS portal is not allowing you to login or not showing the 'Submit Appeal Tab' then you will have to try again later, because the only place you can submit an appeal is online.
