Registration season is now happening at Universities and TVET Colleges. Along with this comes a registration fee. If you're funded by The National Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), here's more information on them covering the registration fee.
When you're approved for funding by NSFAS, your registration fee is included in what the bursary covers.
Should you be asked for a registration fee when you register, you will just need to clarify that you are funded by NSFAS.
Through NSFAS, bursaries are available for public universities, universities of technology or TVET colleges.
Besides the registration fee, this bursary from NSFAS will also cover:
- Tuition
- Accommodation
- Transport
- Living & personal care allowances
- Books & learning materials
NSFAS funding covers approved funded programmes at universities which are all undergraduate whole qualifications. It's important to note that they do not fund short courses and private colleges.
If you are approved for NSFAS funding, you will be required to meet the academic admission requirements of the university or TVET college before NSFAS allocates any funding to you.
If you haven't received any word on whether you've been approved for NSFAS yet, it will be communicated soon but you can check your application status by logging into your myNSFAS account and track your application progress. Here you will receive more information on which stage your application is at.
