NSFAS have announced that an application window period is now open - but it is only for limited courses.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme provides funding for qualifying South African students to study at public universities and public TVET Colleges.
TVET Colleges offer a range of courses, and are also rolling out the new series of Occupational Qualifications.
NSFAS Second Semester Courses
The funding window that is open now is only for Semester 2 courses offered by TVET Colleges, and the second intake of Occupational Programmes (OQ2).
The opening dates for university funding for 2027 courses have not been announced but this usually starts in September or October each year.
NSFAS uses a 'student centered' funding model, which means each prospective student must make their own applications for funding. This is not handled by the College or university. All applications must be made on the official website at my.nsfas.org.za.
NSFAS has warned applicants that just creating a profile on their website does not mean that an application for funding has been made.
Applicants must ensure they follow all the steps in making an application. Usually only limited supporting documents are needed, but if the prospective student is asked for documents these should be uploaded via the website.
Enquires about courses available should be made at your nearest TVET College.
Applications for funding should be made on the official website at my.nsfas.org.za.
