The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has published the NSFAS Eligibility Criteria and Conditions for the NSFAS Student Loan Scheme. The document details how students can decline a loan offer.
NSFAS provides comprehensive funding to deserving students enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This funding covers tuition and registration fees. Students also receive several allowances for food, accommodation, and learning materials.
The introduction of a NSFAS loan for missing middle students garnered thousands of applications.
Students are required to sign a pre-agreement and quote when applying for a NSFAS loan. A later date, approved NSFAS loan applicants are required to sign a NSFAS loan agreement to accept the terms and conditions of the loan.
However, some students who applied for the NSFAS loan may choose to decline their NSFAS loan offer.
How To Decline A NSFAS Loan Offer
Students who wish to decline an NSFAS loan offer must inform both NSFAS and their educational institution of their decision within 30 days of receiving the offer.
If a student wishes to decline the loan, they must inform NSFAS, and the institution concerned within 30 days.
NSFAS will also withdraw loan offers from students who fail to accept their loan offer or fail to submit supporting documentation.
Students who do not accept their loan offer or fail to provide all required supporting documents within 30 calendar days will be deemed to have declined the loan offer.
