The Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI) has opened it's window for applications, which will remain open from the 26 September until the 16 October, 2022.
Successful candidates will then occupy a teaching or general assistant job in South African schools across the country during Phase Four of the initiative.
Open to the demographic of the youth aged between 18 - 34 years old, the initiative has various requirements that applicants need to comply with when applying.
Many of South Africa's unemployed population are recipients of the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) grant, which distributes R350 to qualifying beneficiaries.
The PYEI is meant for those who are employed and provides an employment opportunity. Those who are recipients of the SRD grant also have to be unemployed and receive very little or no income at all in order to qualify for the R350.
Unfortunately, those who are recipients of the SRD grant have to forfeit that R350 grant if they choose to apply for the PYEI.
Applications are welcome, but you cannot continue to receive R350 from the SRD grant if you have gained employment as a teaching or general assistant during this next phase.
You will be required to cancel your SRD grant once you become employed within the PYEI or within the month you begin you working.
The minimum requirement is a matric certificate for those applying to become teaching assistants; applicants for the general assistant positions do not need a matric certificate.
