The University of South Africa (Unisa) has recently issued an apology to all of its graduates and guests who were affected by the disruption of the graduation ceremony that was scheduled to take place on Tuesday 15 March 2022.
The ceremony was disrupted by protesting members of National Education, Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU).
Unisa has further stated that their management is currently in talks with the union regarding the issues that led to the disruption and the rules of engagement when employees exercise their right to protest.
Furthermore, the university said that it will make alternative arrangements for the graduates who have been inconvenienced by the disruption and will in due course communicate details of such arrangements directly to the affected graduates.
Meanwhile, the graduation ceremonies scheduled for Wednesday afternoon at 18:00 and Thursday at 10:00 and 18:00 have been postponed until further notice. The university will also communicate more information about the outstanding graduation ceremonies in due course.
