Students who plan to study at TVET colleges should prepare to submit their NSFAS Semester 2 applications, which will open tomorrow. Here’s more details on this.

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will be opening their Semester 2 applications for students studying at Technical and Vocational Education Training (TVET) colleges on 4 July 2022.

The closing deadline for these applications is 22 July 2022.

Semester 2 NSFAS applications are part of the application cycle which the bursary scheme carries out at TVET colleges around South Africa.

NSFAS has advised students to apply online or through TVET college bursary offices.

Students can submit their NSFAS applications using the methods below:

Walk-in online application platform (super user)

  • Students capture their application at their college computer lab

Assistive capture application platform

  • Application captured by TVET official on behalf of the student

When applying students will be required to provide the following supporting documents:

  • Copy of South African birth certificate/copy of ID document/Temporary ID of student
  • Copy of South African birth certificate/copy of ID document/Temporary ID of parent(s)/guardian/spouse
  • Proof of income (where applicable) – student/parent(s)/guardian or spouse (not older than 3 months.
  • SASSA recipients no proof of income required.
  • A student recognised as a vulnerable child (e.g. Orphan) must submit a completed Vulnerable Child Declaration Form completed by the Social worker
  • Students with disabilities must complete and submit the Disability Annexure A form.

Once the application has been completed and submitted, NSFAS will process it and provide students with their application outcomes.

Students should visit the NSFAS website to track their application. 

Students who have applied for NSFAS during the walk-in application period will not be required to fill out the NSFAS system access form. 

They will only need to send an email to [email protected] for their account to be re-activated.

NSFAS is a government bursary which funds the studies of disadvantaged South African students who wish to study at public universities or TVET colleges.

The funding from NSFAS covers registration, tuition fees, accommodation, learning materials and transport and living allowances.
