After being found guilty of theft, the Former Walter Sisulu University (WSU) student, Sibongile Mani had made her appearance at the East London Regional Court again, however, the case has been postponed to 29 March 2022 and Mani remains out on bail.

NSFAS has confirmed that the administrative error was made by Intellimali, which at the time disbursed funds on behalf of WSU as its service provider.

The amount that was deposited to the student's account had been confirmed to be R14 million.

NSFAS spokesperson Kagisho Mamabolo had clearly stated that Mali had received her R1400 food stipend from NSFAS.

According to the magistrate, Twanet Olivier, there had been an outstanding report, thus either the social development or the probation officer will have to present it.

This comes after both the prosecutor and the defense had agreed that the case must be postponed.

It has been reported that the social worker had requested an extension until the end of the week

Olivier had confirmed that she already has the correctional services report available but prefers having both reports before they are submitted to the court.

Walter Sisulu University students came in numbers in support of Mali, with placards written #JusticeForSibongile in their hands.

Outside of the court, Bathandwa Mangisa, WSU SRC President spoke in an eNCA interview:

In solidarity, we stand until justice is served.

A fellow student from the same university, also shared that the main reason why they are here is to show the seriousness of the case.

Mangisa added that the country's justice system is not fair.
