In collaboration with SNG Grant Thornton, the higher education sector has looked for digital solutions to help students at institutions of higher learning. The programme intends to address the operational issues that the higher education sector is currently facing.

In terms of cyber security, tax compliance, and the digitalization of internal reporting and monitoring, some of the solutions the organisation is anticipated to handle include compliance and business risk.

While discussing the inner workings and details of how the initiative will be implemented, Thabo Mogano, the Education Industry Leader at SNG Grant Thornton, went on to say that these were more prevalent when the sector had to adopt a predominantly digital approach to providing their academic services.

I think what we have seen with the outbreak of Covid was quite an increased use of online study during that period and what we have then observed is that several institutions had to come up with strategies in terms of how to reach their students.

He further states that at the same time they then realised that within their system infrastructure system ETI system some of them were very old systems and then they needed to invest a bit more in new technology.

The consequences of not taking measures to resolve the issue are that the quality of students who do assessments online at college becomes questionable because they don't have quality controls around how they will conduct those exams online

He further emphasised that there is currently a need now to start focusing going forward in terms of how higher learning institutions blend the true method of learning from the normal physical lecture as well as online and that they should think about the future going forward.
