Semester 2 registration is now open at the University of South Africa (Unisa). Students are encouraged to register promptly and secure their place in an undergraduate or honours degree and start Unisa Open Distance e-learning (ODeL) programmes.

The registration period officially opened on 28 June 2024. However, many students are wondering how long they will have before the registration period closes.

Unisa confirmed that Semester 2 registration will close on 19 July 2024 giving students just 21 days to complete their registration at the country’s largest university.

Semester 2 registration for all undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees, and postgraduate diplomas with semester modules will be open from 28 June to 19 July 2024.

How to Register at Unisa

  1. Access the Registration Page: Visit the Unisa web registration page here.
  2. Select Qualification Level: Choose your qualification level and click "Go".
  3. Enter Student Number: Provide your student number and other required details. If you do not have a student number, apply for admission online before proceeding.
  4. Verify Personal Details: Check and update your details. Ensure your address and phone numbers are correct to avoid delays in receiving study materials and important information.
  5. Select Modules: Choose your modules from the drop-down list. Ensure you meet all qualification requirements, including prerequisites and corequisites. Enter the correct module code and select the appropriate semester (1 for the first semester, 2 for the second). Note the language of tuition for each module.
  6. Module Limits: Do not exceed the prescribed number of modules per semester or year. Exceeding the limit may delay your registration. Unisa may remove excess modules based on credit limits and fees paid. Be aware of the maximum time allowed to complete your qualification.
  7. Calculate Fees: Use the fee quotation link to estimate the cost of your modules. Ensure you can pay the minimum required fee before Unisa processes your registration. Adjust your module selection if necessary to meet your budget.
  8. Make Payment: Pay online using a credit card or choose another payment method listed on the Unisa payment page. Keep your proof of payment for future reference.
  9. Submit Registration: Follow the correct payment procedures to avoid delays. Detailed guides for digital banking and ATM deposits are available on the Unisa website. You can conveniently register and make secure payments online

Unisa said successful registration depends on receiving and accepting a placement offer from the university. They added that they may cancel registrations if a student is admitted incorrectly.
