Those who wrote their matric exams but weren't satisfied, didn't pass or needed higher results to get into the college or university programme they wanted, can register for a matric rewrite to gain a second chance.

Here's everything you need to know about 2024 October/November matric rewrites.

October/November 2024 Matric Rewrite

Registrations for the 2024 October/November matric rewrite period will open on 7 August and close on 21 August, giving candidates only two weeks to apply.

Thousands of candidates sit during these matric rewrite exam periods to obtain their National Senior Certificate (NSC) and Senior Certificate (SC).

How To Register For Matric Rewrite

You can register for the October/November rewrites on the Government's e-services portal or at your local District Office.

When registering at the District Office, make sure that you have the following documents on hand:

Your Identity Document
Statement of results or matric certificate
Your most recent school report is required for those who left school before matric

2024 October/November Matric Exam Timetable

The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has released the 2024 October/ November final matric exam timetable. The timetable indicates when learners will write their National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams or their Senior Certificate (SC) exams.

The final matric examination period is set to commence on Monday, 21 October 2024 and will conclude during the final week of November 2024.
