The University of South Africa (Unisa) has officially announced the release of its offers for the 2025 academic year. Prospective students can now discover their fate and embark on their exciting educational journey.
Unisa 2025 applications for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas opened on 21 August and closed on 11 October.
Unisa Application Status
Accepted
If you are accepted, you will see the following message: "You have been offered a space. Please accept or decline the offer.”
Rejected
If you are rejected, you will see the following messages: "You have not been admitted to the qualification” or “Due to the number of applications for this qualification, you have not been offered a space to study”. Unisa will then provide a reason for being rejected.
Waitlist
Another possibility is that you will be put on the waiting list. If you are, you will see the following message: "Due to the number of applications received, your application has been added to the list that might be offered a space."
Delayed
There could also be other statuses seen which could indicate that Unisa is yet to accept or reject your Unisa application. Some of the messages seen: "The result of this process will only be communicated once all the applications for this qualification have been processed" or “Your application for admission will only be finalised once your outstanding results are available."
How To Accept Or Reject Unisa Offer
After evaluating your Unisa application, you might then receive an offer from Unisa that you will need to accept or reject. Here's a guide on how to handle your Unisa offer.
- First-time applicants to Unisa must complete the First-Year Experience MOOC
- After completing the MOOC, you will then need to accept your offer by going to the Unisa offer page
- Scroll down the page and click on the bubble next to 'Offer'
- Enter your student number
- Follow the instructions.
- Complete your Unisa offer and either accept or reject it
Applicants will only have 10 working days to accept their offers. It's important to accept your offer before the deadline to avoid losing your place.
Once your Unisa application is submitted, they will then evaluate your application by looking at whether you meet the academic admission requirements for your qualification of choice, your minimum academic points score (APS) and the number of spaces available for the qualification you applied for.
Spaces for some qualifications are limited and offers will only be made once all the applications received have been processed.
If you were offered a space at Unisa, once you accept the offer, you will wait for registration to open and complete your Unisa registration to officially enrol as a student.
What To Do If Unisa Rejects Your Application
Applicants who were informed that their Unisa application was unsuccessful are urged to read the letter from Unisa carefully to check whether any alternative options are provided.
If your application for admission to a qualification or to both qualifications of choice is declined, you may appeal the outcome of your application. You will have 10 days after you received your Unisa application outcome to appeal.
You can appeal if:
- You believe the decision was an error on the part of the university
- Further supporting documents may result in a different outcome regarding your application for admission
You shouldn't appeal if your Unisa application was declined due to your Unisa application having been incomplete or incorrect or if you didn't submit supporting documents.
How To Submit Unisa Appeal
- Go to the Unisa 'Apply for admission to study: application tool' page
- Click on 'Appeal'
- Follow the prompts
- Submit required documents
Appeals will only be considered after the closing date for applications and only if there are still spaces available.
