The Unisa application 2025 period for undergraduate qualifications, honours degrees and postgraduate diplomas opened on 21 August and closed on 11 October 2024. Applicants have now started receiving their Unisa application decisions.
Thousands of students apply for Unisa every year. However, not all applicants will be accepted.
Why Your Unisa 2025 Application Was Rejected
Incomplete Applications
If required documents, such as academic transcripts, identification, or proof of payment, are missing, the application may be rejected.
Missed Deadlines
Late submissions are not considered, as Unisa enforces strict cut-off dates for applications.
Qualification Requirements Not Met
Unisa has specific entry requirements for each programme, including minimum grades or relevant qualifications. Applications that do not meet these criteria are generally rejected.
Capacity Limits
Many programmes have limited places, so even qualified applicants may be turned away if a programme has reached capacity.
Incorrect or Misleading Information
Applications containing false or misleading information may be disqualified.
However, some applicants might be able to appeal their Unisa rejections. Applicants who were informed that their Unisa application was unsuccessful are urged to read the letter from Unisa carefully to check whether any alternative options are provided.
If your application for admission to a qualification or to both qualifications of choice is declined, you may appeal the outcome of your application. You will have 10 days after you received your Unisa application outcome to appeal.
You can appeal if:
- You believe the decision was an error on the part of the university
- Further supporting documents may result in a different outcome regarding your application for admission
You shouldn't appeal if your Unisa application was declined due to your Unisa application having been incomplete or incorrect or if you didn't submit supporting documents.
How To Submit Unisa Appeal
- Go to the Unisa 'Apply for admission to study: application tool' page
- Click on 'Appeal'
- Follow the prompts
- Submit required documents
Appeals will only be considered after the closing date for applications and only if there are still spaces available.
If your application for admission is declined based on you not meeting the minimum admission requirements for your qualification of choice, the university has said that you may apply via Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Additionally, you can explore other study options offered by Unisa that might be suitable for you if you can't appeal.
Unisa late applications might also be made available later in the year or early next year, if there are spaces left for 2025.
