The grants offered by the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) provide essential income for basic necessities such as food and shelter and other necessities. Sassa disburses grants to millions of South Africans every month.

Grants distributed by Sassa include the Older Persons pension grant, Disability grant, War Veterans grant, Care Dependency grant, Foster Child grant, Child Support grant, Child Support grant Top-Up and Grant-in-aid. This is in addition to the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) Grant.
Sassa Grant Dates For 2025
Sassa has confirmed the following grant payment dates for the first quarter of 2025:
January 2025 Grant Payment Dates
- Older Persons Grant: 3 January 2025
- Disability Grants: 6 January 2025
- Children’s Grants: 7 January 2025
February 2025 Grant Payment Dates
- Older Persons Grant: 4 February 2025
- Disability Grants: 5 February 2025
- Children’s Grants: 6 February 2025
March 2025 Grant Payment Dates
- Older Persons Grant: 4 March 2025
- Disability Grants: 5 March 2025
- Children’s Grants: 6 March 2025
Sassa Grant Payment Values For 2025
For 2025, the current Sassa grant values will be in place until the next Sassa increase which is expected on 1 April. For the first quarter of 2025, beneficiaries can expect to receive the following:
Older Persons grants will be R2,190 while Older Persons grants for people 75 years and older will be R2,210.
Disability grants will be R2,190, War Veterans grant will be R2,210, Care Dependency grant will be R2,190 and the Foster Care grant will be R1,180.
The Child support Grant will be R530 with the Child Support Grant Top-up being R270 and the SRD grant payment for December 2024 will be R370.
Sassa beneficiaries can then expect a Sassa increase on 1 April and 1 October. The Sassa increases for 2025 are yet to be revealed by Finance Minister, Enoch Godongwana and are usually announced during the annual budget speech.
Usually, Sassa grant increases range from R10 to R90, dependant on the Sassa grant.
Sassa has said that there is no need to rush to withdraw the Sassa money on the first day because once the money is paid, it will stay in your bank account.
