The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has confirmed that all outstanding Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college students have been paid.

These payments are for tuition and allowance payments.

These funds are being provided to ensure that students can adequately cover their tuition and personal allowances.

NSFAS said accommodation providers were paid on 2 December 2024.

The disbursement of accommodation allowances to accommodation providers will be finalised on Monday, 02 December 2024.

NSFAS provides comprehensive bursaries and student loans to deserving learners enrolled in approved courses at universities and TVET colleges. This includes money for tuition and registration fees as well as several allowances for food, accommodation and learning materials.

Last week, the scheme confirmed it is actively working to address allowance payment delays for students and payments to accommodation providers.

In May 2024, NSFAS-funded TVET college students began receiving their allowances through direct deposits into their personal bank accounts.

Recently there have been delays in the payment of allowances to TVET college students. This is concerning as many students rely on allowances to purchase food and other essentials while pursuing their studies.

NSFAS confirmed that allowance payments to TVET college students are now complete. The financial aid scheme paid accommodation providers their outstanding monies.

NSFAS has promised to provide further updates on the payment of allowances.
