The main portion of Independent Examination Board (IEB) matric exams is set to commence on 17 October 2023 as learners sit for their Further Studies English examinations. This is the first IEB examination that the entire IEB class of 2023 will participate in after several other examinations were written in the past week.
Tuesday, 17 October 2023 marks the first exam in an intense six week period in which learners will write several examinations to obtain their National Senior Certificate (NSC) qualification. IEB Matric exams will conclude on Tuesday, 28 November 2023.

When Are IEB Matric Results Released?
The IEB usually releases matric exam results one day before public school learners receive their NSC results.
The Department of Basic Education (DBE) has confirmed that NSC results for public schools will be released on Friday, 19 January 2024. This means that it is likely the IEB matric candidates will receive their results on Thursday, 18 January 2024.
Past IEB Matric Results
In 2022, IEB matric candidates achieved an outstanding 98.42% pass rate, with a remarkable 89.32% of students earning bachelor's passes. This pass rate is slightly higher than the previous year, which stood at 98.39%.
With a consistently impressive average pass rate ranging from 97% to 98%, the IEB ensures students experience high levels of success as they complete their secondary education.
This achievement paves the way for learners to pursue higher education at South Africa's universities, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) colleges, and private colleges.

On The Day of Your IEB Exam
