Difference between chemistry and biology?
Chemistry deals with different types of matter and its changes when other materials are added or removed while biology is concerned with living organisms in their environment. The way chemists study matter varies greatly depending upon what kind of system they're studying (for example, how much do we know about quantum mechanics?). The main challenge for biologists is remembering all those details about each organism's physiology! Chemistry is definitely harder than biology because we have to remember so many different things at once - from what elements make up our cells (carbon dioxide) down to how they react together during photosynthesis (which happens when plants use sunlight energy).
The main similarity with both subjects? They involve lots of math!
Why is studying chemistry important?
Although there are many different sub-disciplines of chemistry, the three most important are organic, inorganic and physical chemistry. Organic chemistry involves the study of compounds that contain carbon and hydrogen. Inorganic chemistry focuses on compounds that do not contain carbon. Physical chemistry is a branch of chemistry which uses physics to explain chemical phenomena.
Chemistry is a large part of our lives; every day we use chemicals, such as soaps and detergents, to clean ourselves and our environment. Chemicals are also used in many types of foods, medicines, paints and other products that we use every day.
