Political science is a branch of social sciences that deals with systems of governance, and the analysis of political activities, political thoughts, associated constitutions and political behaviour. It deals extensively with the theory and practice of politics which is commonly thought of as determining of the distribution of power and resources.

In practice contemporary political scientists engage with one another in a wide range of research methods including quantitative (statistical) and qualitative (interpretive) approaches to gather information about a topic that they are interested in studying.

Political science comprises numerous subfields, including comparative politics, political economy, international relations, political theory (or philosophy), public administration, public policy, and political methodology. Although there are many commonalities among these subfields, each one possesses its own unique characteristics.

What careers can you go into after studying political science?

Political science intersects with other fields including economics, law, sociology, history, philosophy, anthropology and psychology so these are just some of the careers you can venture into. An interdisciplinary approach facilitates understanding of our complex political world.

Studying political science is a good option with many career opportunities available to you. Political science as a whole occurs all around us in the world every day.
