Job Title: Junior Firefighter

Annual Salary: R256,831.00
Job Level: Level 10, Grade 6
Location: Within the municipal boundaries (exact location to be confirmed in official posting)

Minimum Requirements

To apply for the Junior Firefighter role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:

  •     Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
  •     Firefighter 1 and 2 certification
  •     Hazmat Operations and Awareness qualification
  •     Valid Code C1 driver’s license
  •     First Aid Level 3 certification
  •     Must be 18 years or older

Key Responsibilities

As a Junior Firefighter, you will be responsible for:

  •     Responding promptly to both emergency and non-emergency calls
  •     Attending to fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and other emergencies within the municipal area
  •     Assisting in clean-up operations after incidents
  •     Maintaining rescue equipment and ensuring it is always in good working condition
  •     Cleaning and inspecting fire vehicles and ensuring readiness
  •     Keeping the fire station clean, organized, and operational
  •     Performing checks and maintenance on fire hydrants

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  •     Customer-focused service delivery, tailored to meet diverse community needs
  •     Analytical thinking, with the ability to gather and evaluate information for decision-making
  •     Persuasiveness and problem-solving skills, with the ability to present effective, acceptable solutions
  •     Resilience and confidence, especially under pressure or in challenging situations
  •     Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey information clearly and appropriately
  •     Ethical integrity, including the ability to handle conflicts of interest and act with professionalism
