Minimum Requirements
To apply for the Junior Firefighter role, candidates must meet the following essential criteria:
- Grade 12 (Matric) certificate
- Firefighter 1 and 2 certification
- Hazmat Operations and Awareness qualification
- Valid Code C1 driver’s license
- First Aid Level 3 certification
- Must be 18 years or older
Key Responsibilities
As a Junior Firefighter, you will be responsible for:
- Responding promptly to both emergency and non-emergency calls
- Attending to fires, vehicle accidents, hazardous material incidents, and other emergencies within the municipal area
- Assisting in clean-up operations after incidents
- Maintaining rescue equipment and ensuring it is always in good working condition
- Cleaning and inspecting fire vehicles and ensuring readiness
- Keeping the fire station clean, organized, and operational
- Performing checks and maintenance on fire hydrants
