Which Universities Are Open For Second Semester Applications 2024
The Central Applications Office (CAO) recently announced that there are universities which have late applications open for second semester, to study during the current academic year. The second semester commences in July.
CAO is a centralised applications service offering access to the fullest range of study opportunities in Higher and Further Education in Southern Africa.
The universities which have late applications are Durban University of Technology (DUT) and Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT).
Universities in Kwazulu-Natal use CAO to administer their applications. Should you be interested in applying, applications must be submitted through the CAO.
Colleges That Are Open For Second Semester
The TVET Colleges either operate on two semesters per year or three semesters per year. So they will be recruiting now for the second semesters of their third semesters depending on the courses you may be interested in.
How To Apply For Second Semester in South Africa
Online Applications
- Go to the CAO website
- Read How to use the programme list
- Refer to the summary of codes used
- Use the 'Index' to find which page the programme is on
- Click on 'Apply' on top
- Go to Apply Now
- Complete the application by filling all required details and following the prompts
- Print out the declaration and deposit slip
- Pay application fee
- Attach required documents and proof of payment to the form of declaration
- Post to CAO OR hand in at CAO offices
- Keep receipt and make a note of CAO number and password in order to track your application status later
Physical Applications
- Go to the CAO website
- Read How to use the programme list
- Refer to the summary of codes used
- Use the 'Index' to find which page the programme is on
- Download the application form from the site
- Fill in the application form with all relevant details
- Pay application fee
- Attach required documents and proof of payment to the form of declaration
- Post to CAO OR hand in at CAO offices
- Keep receipt and make a note of CAO number and password in order to track your application status later
How To Track Your Application
- Go to the CAO Website
- Click on My Application
- Fill in details and follow the prompts
- You should be able to view your status then
For your application to be considered, you will need to pay an admin fee of R470.
