According to Basic Education’s school calendar, learners from inland schools, including Gauteng will be back in the classroom on 19 July 2022 for the third quarter of their schooling year.
In the very same week, Gauteng Education’s online admissions system will be open for parents to start applying from 22 July 2022 until 19 August 2022.
Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) has confirmed that this system will remain open & accessible for applications throughout the application period.
Applications will be done through the Gauteng Department’s Online Admissions Systems for learners who will be applying for Grade 1 & Grade 8 for the 2023 schooling year.
Parents and guardians that will be applying on behalf of students have been urged to either upload or submit certified copies of learner documents.
The department has announced that the following certified documents are required:
- Parents are urged to submit the required certified documents to the system or submit them physically only to the schools chosen within 7 days of applying.
- Parent/Guardian ID or Passport
- Child ID Or South African Birth Certificate or Passport
- Refugee Permit or study permit
- Proof of home address
- Proof of work address (optional for those applying at a school closer to work)
- Latest school report and Clinic card/Immunisation report (Grade 1 learners only).
The department has also urged parents to ensure that the details that they enter into the system match the information on the documents they will upload or submit.
Parents have the option to either upload the documents to the system or submit them to the chosen schools within 7 days of applying.
