The Department of Health in the EC is recruiting for their Emergency Care Officer programme. There are 248 positions available at various sites across the province.

If you are looking for work as an Emergency Care Officer, Grade 1 to 3, there are 248 vacancies right now with the EC Department of Health. The Salary ranges from R187,488 up to R286,521 for the most senior positions. 

REQUIREMENTS

For the Grade 1 position National Senior Certificate:

Successful completion of an appropriate Basic Life Support (BLS) course that allows registration with HPCSA as Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA). 

Registration with the HPCSA as BAA. 

None after registration with the HPCSA as BAA. Knowledge of Basic Life Support protocols. 

A valid code 10 driver’s license with PDP. 

For the Grade 3 position: 

Successful completion of an appropriate Intermediate Life Support (ILS) course that allows registration with HPCSA as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA). 

Registration with the HPCSA as AEA. 

Experience: None after registration with HPCSA as AEA. Knowledge of Intermediate Life Support protocols. A valid code 10 driver’s license with PDP. 

DUTIES OF EMERGENCY CARE OFFICERS 

Render Emergency Medical Care and Transportation of the sick and injured according to HPCSA protocols. 

Handle Basic administration, patient records, vehicles checklists, log sheets and other necessary administrative duties. 

Maintain and clean all equipment, vehicles and base station. Undertake inter-facility transfers of patients. 

Any other duties assigned by the supervisor.
