About The City Lodge Food And Beverage Learnership

The Food and Beverage Learnership is designed to provide learners with hands-on experience in hotel food service operations while ensuring that guests receive excellent service and dining experiences.

Successful candidates will work in a professional hospitality environment, supporting kitchen operations and food preparation activities while learning industry standards and best practices.

Participants will gain exposure to food safety procedures, hospitality operations and customer service excellence while contributing to the overall guest experience.

Learnership Responsibilities

Learners will be involved in a variety of food and beverage operations, including:

  • Assisting with meal preparation and food service activities
  • Following standard operating procedures and brand standards
  • Supporting food health and safety compliance requirements
  • Maintaining high levels of cleanliness and hygiene
  • Using kitchen equipment correctly and safely
  • Contributing to excellent guest service delivery
  • Supporting occupational health and safety initiatives
  • Participating in operational and legislative training programmes
  • Assisting with cost-control and food management measures
  • Maintaining company standards across food and beverage operations

Minimum Requirements

To qualify for the City Lodge Food and Beverage Learnership, applicants must have:

  • Grade 12 (Matric) or an equivalent qualification
  • A National Certificate (Vocational): Hospitality (NQF Level 4) or
  • A CATHSSETA Professional Cookery Qualification (NQF Level 4)
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • At least one year of culinary experience in a formally brigaded kitchen

Additional Qualifications That Will Be Advantageous

Applicants with the following qualifications may have an added advantage:

  • Higher Certificate in Food and Beverage Operations Management (NQF Level 5)
  • Culinary-related Diploma
