BP is inviting applications for its Chemical Engineering Learnership in Durban, South Africa. This exciting opportunity is aimed at young graduates eager to kickstart their careers in the procurement and supply chain management sector, with a focus on chemical engineering processes. Successful candidates will gain valuable hands-on experience, professional development, and industry exposure within BP’s Global Supply Chain operations.
 

About the Learnership
The Global Supply Chain (GSC) Learnership equips learners with skills in data reporting, health and safety, quality performance, and supply chain coordination. Learners will work closely with departments such as manufacturing, procurement, technology, and Blendcor Joint Venture (JV) partners. The role also involves liaising with third-party manufacturers and supporting product change activities within the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate and supply accurate management information (MI) reports on health, safety, and quality performance.
  • Track and record supplier and customer quality performance, complaints, and product issues via BP’s global database.
  • Monitor third-party manufacturers’ product quality and prepare periodic performance reports.
  • Coordinate New Product Introduction (NPI) and product change activities across supply chain functions.
  • Handle and track customer complaint samples, ensuring timely resolution and reporting.
  • Support compliance and quality audits, tracking findings and ensuring closure with third parties.

Qualification & Skills Required

  • A degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Good organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt quickly and remain flexible in changing environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities.
  • Awareness of sustainability issues in relation to business operations.
