Types Of TVET College Courses
In South Africa's public TVET Colleges, students can pursue either NATED or NC(V) qualifications. They may also pursue occupational programmes.
NC(V) (National Certificate Vocational) courses
NC(V) courses are designed for students who wish to acquire practical skills outside the traditional school environment. They are especially suitable for those who have decided on a career path and do not require a traditional high school experience.
Completing an NC(V) qualification results in obtaining a Matric certificate. NC(V) qualifications allow students to become self-employed after obtaining their certificates, and they generally extend up to NQF Level 4, which is equivalent to Matric.
NATED (National Qualification Courses or Report 191 NATED courses)
NATED qualifications offer specialised education in specific fields.
To enrol in NATED N4-N6 courses, you typically need to have already obtained a Matric certificate (Matriculation certificate). These qualifications extend up to NQF Level 6, covering both practical and theoretical teaching methods.
