  • Modeling - Models can work in print modeling, runway modeling, or commercial advertising. 
  • Fashion Designer - Fashion designers create clothing and accessories that are sold in retail outlets across the country. Some designers specialise in an area such as men's clothing, women's clothing, children's clothing or accessories such as jewelry, shoes or handbags.
  • Fashion Stylist - A stylist works with photographers on photo shoots for magazines and advertisements. They often travel for work and must arrange for models to wear clothes designed by a particular designer or brand.
  • Fashion Buyer/Fashion Merchandiser - A fashion merchandiser works with designers and manufacturers to ensure that products sell well. They must have knowledge of retailing and know about current fashions and trends in order to be successful at their jobs.
  • Fashion Illustrator - As a fashion illustrator, you will design clothing and accessories for manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers. To become a fashion illustrator, you will need to have artistic talent and drawing skills. You may also need to earn a college degree in the field.
  • Fashion Photographer - A fashion photographer takes pictures of models wearing the clothing that is being sold by particular stores or designers. As a fashion photographer, you will work with models, stylists, makeup artists, and location scouts to create photoshoots for magazines or advertisements.

Fashion designers draw inspiration from a variety of sources when creating their designs. Social media is one source that can provide insight into what people are wearing across the globe. Fashion designers also attend trade shows and read fashion magazines to learn about trends. They are looking for information that can help them create clothing that will appeal to consumers.

Career options in fashion are as diverse as they are plentiful. Whether you enjoy creating clothes, buying and merchandising clothes or marketing them, there is a career in fashion waiting for you.
