The President introduced the Social Relief of Distress (SRD) due to pandemic adding on an existing unemployment rate.
The grant caters for unemployed South African Citizens, Refugees, Asylum Seekers and Special Permit Holders who are between the ages of 18 and 60 years.
If you have submitted your application for the SRD grant, 'SRD Grant Is Now Active' might be the first application status that you see.
According to the South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) this means that the government agency has received your application and will communicate the outcome of your application in due course.
To track your application online, follow these steps:
- Go to the SASSA SRD grant website
- Scroll down to 'Application status'
- Click on 'Click here to check online'
- Fill in the required fields
- You should then be able to see the status of your R350 grant application
Sassa has also shared that you may also track your status on their WhatsApp line (082 046 8553) or by calling 0800 60 10 11 and follow the prompts.
How To Cancel Your SASSA R350 Grant Application:
If for any reason you would like to cancel your relief of distress grant you can do so by visiting the Sassa SRD website.
Step 1: Go to the Sassa SRD website: srd.sassa.gov.za/
Step 2: Scroll down to the Cancel my Application tab.
Step 3: Click on the yellow button which says 'click here to cancel online'.
Step 4: Provide your ID number and mobile number, then click 'send pin'.
Step 5: You will receive an SMS with a 6 digit One Time Pin (OTP) number.
Step 6: Client must insert the OTP number on the required field to verify the pin.
Step 7: Then click 'cancel my grant'.
Step 8: A message will pop up to ask if the applicant is sure about the cancellation of the grant.
Step 9: Click yes to continue with the cancellation or click no to discard.
