The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) had received more than 900 000 applications for the 2022 academic year.
It has been reported that more than 80% of those applications were that of first-time applicants.
With some students having been rejected for funding by NSFAS, the scheme allowed a 30 day period for applicants to submit appeals after being rejected for funding.
According to a NSFAS response to one of its recipients on Twitter, should you receive an 'Appeal Approved' Status as the outcome of your appeal, this simply means that you have been provisionally approved pending final approval from NSFAS.
Students have been advised to wait for their funding status on the myNSFAS portal to be updated.
How to track your myNSFAS application status:
- Log in to your myNSFAS account on the myNSFAS student portal here
- Enter your username and password and sign in
- Click on Track Funding Progress
Should you be rejected, you still have the opportunity to appeal, as long as you do this within the 30 day period.
In this process, students are urged to submit any further required supporting documents to make sure that they increase the chances of their appeal being successful.
