The National Student Financial Aid Scheme, better known as NSFAS, provides bursaries to poor and working class students.
Wondering if they will cover students or prospective students from the University of the Western Cape (UWC).
Well, seeing that NSFAS funds students from any of the country's 26 Public Universities, UWC students will therefore qualify.
Applications normally open from 01 September annually and close on 30 November the year before your admission and registration as a student.
What are the requirements to be funded by NSFAS?
- Household income must come to under R350 000 per year
- If you're a person with a disability, household income must be under R600 000 per year
- SASSA beneficiaries immediately qualify
- Must be accepted or applying to a Public University
- Must be a South African citizen
NSFAS beneficiaries won't only have their tuition and registration fees paid for through NSFAS, they will also receive the following allowances:
- Accommodation allowance
- Transport allowance
- Living allowance
- Learning material allowance
- Incidental/personal care allowance
