The University of KwaZulu-Natal has taken to social media to state that it is yet to receive funding guidelines from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme(NSFAS).
The higher learning institution has further stated that it has not been able to process NSFAS allowances as there are no guidelines to inform the university with regards to the amount of approved NSFAS allowances for 2022.
UKZN also points out that they are well aware of the vital importance of these NSFAS allowances, adding that they will process the first payment of allowances for learning materials and living expenses to all NSFAS funded students using the same values as the 2021 allowances.
The provisional payment date is Monday, 21 February 2022.
On 3 February 2022, NSFAS stated that the funding list containing the names of all eligible students who are looking to further their studies had been released to all public higher learning institutions in the country.
At the time, the bursary scheme received and processed a total of 906 429 applications. Of these applicants, 276 748 received real-time decisions upon submitting their applications.
In addition to this, all NSFAS funded students will not be required to pay a registration fee as it has been subsidised by the Department of Higher Education.
